|Quiet here these days
It's funny to notice that when I first started out on Livejournal back in ooh... 2004? That the amount of people I know using it then has almost completely drained to nothing.
I've got the majority of the people on my friends list that I ever did, but there are barely more than a handful that actually update their journal with any regularity. A few more pop in facebook and Twitter crossfeeds but who never actually update and the rest have either closed their accounts or long ago let them run stagnant.
Although i know that the basis of Social networking sites is to be superceeded by newer ideas and the adaptability of first MySpace then Bebo and Facebook appeal to people who want more than to simply diarise about their lives and let their friends know about fun times they've had.
Personally I've already seen a blog or two bite the dust due to lack of interest, or readers. (not much point writing a blog if no-one reads it any more) I wonder how much longer I'll bother with LJ? Current Mood: thoughtful

Also I'm sorry but the end of this video made me suddenly realise the inspiration for the character of Ellen Tigh on Battlestar. Current Mood: cheerful

|Oh wait I have a livejournal don't I?
Haven't been on this in a while.
What have I been up to recently? Not much, in fact today I did sweet bugger all. Being as I was utterly and completely hungover to all hells.
I don't even know why as I wasn't mixing drinks and only had somewhere in the region of 8 or 9 pints on a nearly empty stomach. (maybe I'm getting old)
So other than sleep, vomit and cringe in pain, all I managed today was about 3 episodes of South park and a few levels of the Iron man videogame that I never finished.
Did see Zombieland over the weekend, fantastic movie. Go and see it. It's quite quite brilliant.
Don't watch Starship troopers 2, it almost without redeeming features. The few that it does have include a talking rotting corpse, an inexplicably and repeatedly naked woman and some half-decent CGI Aliens. Apparently the 3rd one is better.... Serves me right for buying the box set on Blu-ray.
So.... yeah, I may try to post occasionally again, maybe that's what's been missing from my brainspace recently. Current Mood: contemplative

|Of plays, laughs and Basterds
Oh my Christ. Festival time again.
It's halfway through by now and I'm desperately looking forwards to the end of next week when I run out of shows and can just veg out.
Have been to see a few good things so if anyone is interested here are some things to make a point of seeing:
My Grandfather's Great War
Gary Little: He was only jail Gay
How to survive the zombie apocalypse.
What I'm not entirely sure whether to recommend is the movie Inglourious Basterds( Some minor spoilersCollapse )
Also is anyone actually going to the Amanda Palmer gig on saturday as most folk seem to be hitting Absynth instead?

|The daily grind: The Beast of Boredom
It's happened again.
It seems almost as if I have a maximum work tenure period. In any given job I've had, I reach a point after about 2 years where suddenly almost overnight I cease to care or even be able to hold a pretence at having any interest in being there.
Maybe it's the utter lack of responsibility, or any thought or intelligence being involved. I think I may be someone who simply needs to be in charge of something very intricate and complicated or maybe just self-employed. Current Mood: bored

|I did something like this about 5 years ago and got the same result.
I Am A:
Neutral Good Human Bard/Sorcerer (2nd/2nd Level)Ability Scores:Strength-
A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment because it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.Race:Humans
are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.Primary Class:Bards
often serve as negotiators, messengers, scouts, and spies. They love to accompany heroes (and villains) to witness heroic (or villainous) deeds firsthand, since a bard who can tell a story from personal experience earns renown among his fellows. A bard casts arcane spells without any advance preparation, much like a sorcerer. Bards also share some specialized skills with rogues, and their knowledge of item lore is nearly unmatched. A high Charisma score allows a bard to cast high-level spells.Secondary Class:Sorcerers
are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

|I ate some chips
My god. I hadn't been to the chippy in months.
Now I realise why. It was revolting, stodgy bland chips with a King Rib that tasted like lightly flavoured sponge wrapped in a blanket of wallpaper paste.
I think my intestines will protest later, if not my very soul.
In other news, I think I have a cold brewing which is not so good. Hopefully it'll pass but if not I'll be buggered if I'm working while I feel ill.
